Who We Are?
The Association, The MiraCosta Collage Academic Associate Faculty (MCCAAF), represents all associate faculty at MiraCosta College. We elect four officers to the MCCAAF Executive Board to administer it. The MCCAAF is an affiliate of the California Teachers Association (CTA), the Community College Association (CCA), and the National Education Association (NEA).
What We Do?
We represent you! We work to ensure that your working conditions are upheld per the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiated with the District. We stand with you as issues involving pay, benefits, and working conditions arise.
Who We Represent
All credit part-time faculty, part-time librarians, part-time counselors and noncredit part-time teaching faculty in the following departments: English as a Second Language (ESL), Other Noncredit, and Adult High School Diploma Program (AHSDP)/Career Development and Workplace Preparation and noncredit counselors.
We encourage all elligible associate faculty members to join the MCCAAF! In 2004, union members at MiraCosta voted to implement the state law concerning agency fee ("Fair Share"), by which all associate faculty at MiraCosta automatically become agency fee payers of CTA. They may elect to become active members or may remain agency fee payers. Agency fee payers and active members have the same dues deducted from their Spring and Fall paychecks. As an active member, you have the following additional benefits:
Vote for officers, approval of negotiated contracts, and amendments to bylaws.
Serve as officers, become members of the negotiating team and other committees for which there are stipends.
Have access to free legal representation if you have a grievance or a student has certain claims against you in your role as teacher.
Benefits and Coverage
Be covered under the $1,000,000 Educators Employment Liability coverage and be eligible for CTA-sponsored insurance programs and other benefits.
