MCCAAF Scholarship Recipients 2015

The MCCAAF Scholarship recipients show perseverance, integrity, and leadership. The scholarships were awarded at the Associate Faculty Luncheon on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Design student Esther Matsen plans to finish her education at MCC and then major in engineering. She was nominated by Associate Professor Christopher Boehm of the Design Department, who said of Esther: “….her questions are thought-provoking and beneficial to the class as a whole. I firmly believe we need more high-caliber, enthusiastic female leader/role models in the STEM related disciplines, and Esther truly exemplifies this caliber of excellence.” Associate Professor Sarah Lopez, Music Department, nominated music student Sherman Sheid for the scholarship. Professor Lopez said that Sherman is a “very impressive young man in his presence and attentiveness in class… and his passion for singing and music contribute to his classmates’ insight and inspiration for their own work.” Sherman plans to transfer to a Cal State University to complete a music degree in music education, with an emphasis in voice, or perhaps he will major in performance.
