By a vote of 112-1, you have ratified our new contract with MiraCosta College.
The contract includes significant gains in the salary and working conditions of all our colleagues:
* A majority of our colleagues will earn 2.25 % more for each of the three years of the contract, through a "cost of living adjustment (COLA)" which we negotiated. Others, at the higher steps of the salary schedule, will get a smaller COLA. If you recall prior communications, the College originally wanted to freeze higher salaries and we see this agreement as a positive step for our faculty. See Article 12 and the Salary Schedule.
* For work done last year (academic year 2017-2018), Associate Faculty will receive a one-time, off-schedule bonus of 1% for all LHE work. See Article 12.
* For the first time in the history of our Union, there are rehire rights in our contract. Colleagues at Step 7 or above will be grand-parented into rehire rights starting in Fall 2019, with scheduling guarantees in 2018-19. Newer colleagues will have such rights vest shortly. See Article 7.
