The election for the vacant Treasurer’s position needed to be rescheduled. The election will be held next week, beginning on Monday, September 16, 2019 and concluding at noon on Friday, September 20, 2019. Ballots will be counted after the voting has concluded.
Ballots and ballot boxes will be available at three campus locations: the Associate Faculty office on the Oceanside campus, the mailroom or faculty room on the San Elijo campus, and the faculty mailbox room/lounge at the CLC. You must be a dues-paying member of our union to vote in the election. We will be conducting a special election to fill the vacancy in the office of Treasurer. The winning candidate will serve the remainder of the term which expires on June 30, 2020.
Per Section VII E. of our bylaws, Dawn Diskin has been appointed treasurer to fill the vacancy left by the departure of our previously appointed treasurer, Will Dawley. Dawn will serve as treasurer for the balance of the term of our originally elected treasurer, Julie Groboi, i.e. until June 30, 2020. We thank Will for his service to our union.
By a vote of 112-1, dues-paying members of our Union have ratified a new contract with the College. The Board of Trustees is expected to approve the contract at their regular meeting later this month.
The tentative contract between your Union and the College is ready for your approval. Thanks in part to your input and presence at a number of Board of Trustees meetings, the proposed contract includes significant gains in the salary and working conditions of all our colleagues.
We encourage you to vote YES to ratify the new contract. If you are a dues-paying member of the union, click on Contract Ratification to review the proposed articles that are different from our existing contract and then vote for or against ratification. Only dues-paying members may vote. Voting will end at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018. William "Will" Dawley was appointed to fill the remainder of the term of our elected treasurer, Julie Graboi. Though, unfortunately, Julie's tenure as treasurer was short, we thank her for her service and look forward to continuing to receive her thoughtful insights on improving the working conditions of our Associate Faculty colleagues. We'll introduce Will to you in our next newsletter.
Your Union and the College have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. We will post pdfs of the various articles, along with a summary of the highlights of the new agreement on this website in a couple of days. Ratification of the new contract will be conducted electronically beginning in a few days. Only dues-payers may vote for ratification.
Our newly-elected Union officers are President Krista Warren-Yagubyan, Vice President Al Nyman, Secretary Joe Chirra, and Treasurer Julie Graboi. They will begin their two-year terms of office on July 1, 2018.
Many thanks to our out-going Treasurer, Erin Thomas, for keeping our finances in splendid order. The "polls" are now open.
